While I never really watched The West Wing, this video was fun to be a part of because the actors were having a great time and everyone was trying to have fun with the material (Also, Martin Sheen)

In December I had the awesome experience to work on these Old Spice commercials directed by Adult Swim’s Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. A great feeling to see such a hilarious final product airing on TV (see, Mom, I’m not a failure!)
My favorite one is above, but you can check out the whole series of five commercials here.

One of the really amazing opportunities I had last year was to work on the Awards Watch Roudndtable video series for the Hollywood Reporter, in which professionals in five different fields of filmmaking were brought together to discuss their craft. It was incredible to get to hear discussions from big names such as John Lasseter, George Clooney, Glenn Close, Kathleen Kennedy and Aaron Sorkin.
Admittedly, it was also pretty great just to be in the same room as Charlize Theron and Carey Mulligan.
If you have the time, check one of these videos out!

I got to be a part of shooting the performance aspects of this music video for Emma Hewitt near the end of last year. It was a great experience and it’s always great to be on a music video set where you can actually enjoy the song being played.

This video was an awesome experience because it allowed me to get back behind a light board (ETC Ion, in this case) for the first time since being out of school. It was a blast being a part of putting the incredible creativity of the Director and DP onto the screen.
So I’ve been terrible at posting updates lately, so I’m going to try to catch up in the next week or so.
Way back in June I got the opportunity to be a part of the shooting of a web series sponsored by Macy’s called “Wendy.” It was a nine-day shoot during which we shot this music video along with 5 episodes. While teen drama isn’t quite my thing, it was a great opportunity to work with a great lighting package and be around some sweet equipment such as the Chapman-Leonard Hydrascope (underwater Technocrane) and a stunt crane.
Check out the video and if you’re interested in taking a look at the series you can find it here.

This was an interesting and fun video to shoot because we got to work with some unique and interesting lighting tools such as prisms, flexible mirrors and projection equipment. It turned out pretty sweet!
Here’s a short film I worked on back when I was in school that was produced entirely by Biola students as part of our Production class requirement. This project was a great experience for me because I got to hone my camera operating skills as well as learn what it is like for a crew to work on a film with serious and impactful subject matter.
Directed by: Felicia Heykoop
Director of Photography: Ricky Norris
My Position: Camera Operator
In an effort to get this blog more caught up on the things I’ve gotten to work on, I’ll be posting some older projects as I find them online.
Here’s another music video I worked on a while back that turned out pretty cool.
This shoot was an especially unique experience because we got to use moving lights (20k mounted to a Chapman Hustler dolly) along with many other light gags.
